Brown says airport bill will help CVG

ERLANGER, KY (FOX19) - Democratic Ohio Senator Sherrod Brown praised a new bill as helping Cincinnati Northern Kentucky Airport, as well as other airports serving Ohio.  He also says it will bring jobs to Southwest Ohio. 

The bill passed unanimously Thursday with an amendment from Brown and newly elected Ohio Republican Senator Rob Portman of Terrace Park.  Brown is describing this as "the first of many Brown-Portman partnerships".

HEBRON, KY (FOX19) - Ohio Senator Sherrod Brown has sent letters to Delta Airlines and to the Kenton County Airport Board asking for changes at Cincinnati Northern Kentucky International Airport, which has lost many of the flights it once had since the merger of Delta and Northwest Airlines, while still having some of the highest fares in the country.

Omnicare announces quarterly cash dividend

COVINGTON, KY (FOX19) - The Board of Directors of Covington-based Omnicare, Inc. declared a quarterly cash dividend of 3.25 cents per share on its common stock Thursday.  The dividend is payable on March 18, 2011 to stockholders of record on March 2, 2011.

The company will release quarterly results on February 24.  In November the company made money from ongoing operations, but posted a $103 million dollar loss while dealing with lawsuits, a change of management, and reorganization.

Omnicare, with headquarters in the RiverCenter complex, is a Fortune 500 company based in Covington, Kentucky, and is a leading provider of pharmaceutical care for the elderly.  They serve residents in long-term care facilities, chronic care and other settings comprising approximately 1.4 million beds in 47 states, the District of Columbia and Canada.

Kentucky lawyer, Eric Deters, could have law license suspended

INDEPENDENCE, KY (FOX19) - A Kentucky lawyer, and 700WLW radio personality could have his license to practice law suspended for 181 days.

According to a 21-page report from the Commissioners Court, Eric Deters "engaged in a pattern of conduct that simply stated is ‘sue first, ask questions later' and ‘say anything I want, because I'm a lawyer and no one is going to hold me accountable.'"

The report was filed Tuesday.

Gateway Announces Next Steps Involving Urban Campus in Downtown Covington

COVINGTON, KY (FOX19) - Gateway Community and Technical College announced on Wednesday that it will seek the services of an architectural firm to create a comprehensive master plan for its rapidly growing Urban Campus in downtown Covington.

The new campus will replace an aging one in Covington/Park Hills with a combination of new buildings and rehabilitated existing facilities that will fit the character of the community and serve as a hub of economic and community development.

R. Richard Jordan, chairman of the Gateway board of directors and G. Edward Hughes, Gateway president and chief executive officer, revealed the formal master plan process at a public meeting updating the community on progress toward creating the Urban Campus. 

“The Gateway board has been working to develop an Urban Campus since the board was created in 2001,” Jordan said. “Our very first request for building funds contained a request for an urban campus.
