No death penalty for woman who pleads guilty and agrees to testify in murder trial

COVINGTON, KY (FOX19) - One of the four people police say are responsible for the 2009 murder of a man found burning under a bridge on Dodsworth Lane pleads guilty to avoid the death penalty.

Shawn Allen Davis, 28, was found on fire under the bridge in Campbell County. Police believe he died from injuries he sustained in a "robbery by force." Police say Mary Hartbarger, 36, and Patrick Cooke helped lure Davis to a Greenup Street Apartment as a part of an attempted robbery. They then beat him with a porcelain toilet lid, strangled him in Covington and set his body on fire in Cold Spring.

Hartbarger pleaded guilty to her charges of Complicity to Robbery, murder, and tampering with evidence.

CRESCENT SPRINGS, KY (FOX19) - A man was flown to the hospital Thursday night after crashing his car in Crescent Springs.

Erlanger Police were called to the intersection of Buttermilk Pike and Anderson Road just before 11:30 p.m.

Officers found a Ford Mustang had been westbound on Buttermilk when the driver, David J. Moellman, 38, of Crescent Springs, lost control and struck a utility pole sideways. The car hit the pole on the driver's side, collapsing the car inward and entrapping Moellman.

Moellman was extricated from the car and flown to UC Hospital.

Police say he was wearing a seatbelt and alcohol was not a factor in the crash. However, speed is believed to be a factor.

The accident remains under investigation.
