COVINGTON, KY (FOX19) - The 2012-2013 Carnegie in Concert Series concludes with an evening of big band music led by the celebrated Carmon DeLeone.

The concert is scheduled for Thursday, June 13 at 7:30pm.

Tickets for Carmon Deleone and the New Studio Big Band are $19; $16 for Carnegie Members, WVXU Perks and Enjoy the Arts Members and students.

OLD, NEW, BORROWED, BLUE will feature hits from all these greats and heat things up with a unique jazz journey that includes twists on popular hits by artists such as Stevie Wonder, Sting, James Brown, Maroon Five and Eddie Van Halen, among others.

Health and wellness center coming to Covington

COVINGTON, KY (FOX19)- CareHere has announced the addition if its newest clinic, CTK Health and Wellness Center, which will be located in Covington.

The clinic will be on the first floor of 303 Court Street and is set to open on May 22. It will provide Kenton County and Covington employees and their dependants with primary care services and generic brand prescriptions, as well as occupational health services.

A ribbon cutting ceremony will take place on May 21 at 10 a.m.

Truck driver injured in crash on SB I-71/75 at Cut-in-the-Hill

COVINGTON, KY (FOX19)- A truck driver was taken to the hospital after his tractor trailer jack-knifed Tuesday morning in Covington.

The crash occurred around 4:30 a.m. on southbound I-71/75 at the top of the Cut-in-the-Hill.

Covington Police say the truck had a punctured fuel tank and was spilling fuel across all four lanes of the interstate.

The interstate was completely shut down for almost three hours, backing traffic up all the way into Ohio.

The driver of the truck, Richard Blust, of
Illinois, was transported to University of Cincinnati Medical Center for treatment of his injuries.
Multiple wreckers were used to remove the damaged vehicle and assist stranded
trucks through the affected area.

Volunteers needed at Edgewood Fire & EMS

EDGEWOOD, KY (FOX19) - Edgewood Fire and EMS is currently looking for dedicate men and wome  to join their crew.

They are currently accepting applications for volunteer firefighters until May 22 and recruit orientation begins June 5.

The Edgewood Fire and EMS department provides fire protection and emergency medical care for about 8,611 residents, their homes and area businesses including St. Elizabeth Edgewood Hospital.

Volunteers are an important factor in the service provided to the ciommunity.

Anyone interested should complete an application at the firehouse located at 385 Dudley Road. Full training in firefighting will be provided to those who qualify.

 

Tree crashes damaging two NKY homes

FT MITCHELL, KY (FOX19)-  

A tree crashed down on Monday damaging two Ft. Mitchell
homes.

A roofer in the area told FOX19 five other trees in the area
have also been knocked down.

The tree that fell Monday was reportedly already scheduled
to be taken down next week.

No word yet on what specifically caused the tree to come down.

Salvation Army ARC Auxiliary holding “Celebrating Spring” fundraiser

COVINGTON, KY (FOX19) - The Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Center (ARC) Auxiliary will host an annual event, which benefits The Salvation Army’s Adult Rehabilitation Center, will be held Thursday, May 9th, 2013.

The event includes a silent auction, Kitchen Korner shop and luncheon.  Special guest speaker for this year’s luncheon is Dr. O’dell Owens, President of Cincinnati State Technical and Community College.  The event will be held at the Radisson Hotel in Covington, starting at 11:00 am.

“It’s a wonderful event to support the men at the ARC,” stated Jill Hoff, president of the ARC Auxiliary.  “Our group of dedicated ladies has been active for more than 55 years, and we are delighted to walk alongside The Salvation Army as they seek to help men with substance abuse and other issues turn their lives around.”
