Catholic Schools week celebrated at church mass in Covington | News
COVINGTON, KY (FOX19) - With the theme “Catholic Schools Raise the Standards” the 28 elementary and nine high schools serving nearly 10,000 students and their families in the Diocese of Covington celebrate Catholic Schools Week.
A highlight of the celebration came on Wednesday with the annual Catholic Schools Week Mass celebrated by Bishop Roger Foys. Mass was attended by representatives (both students and staff) of the Catholic schools in the Diocese. The Mass was held in the Cathedral Basilica of the Assumption, at 12th and Madison in Covington.
Michael Clines, superintendent for Catholic schools, adds, “The theme ‘Catholic Schools Raise the Standards’ truly characterizes our schools, and I thank our parish and school communities for making our schools such amazing places to prepare our youth for their life’s work.”
The Diocese of Covington has a glorious history of establishing and supporting educational opportunities for thousands and thousands of students since the diocese’s founding in 1853. Today’s educators and school leaders, with support of parents and families, continue the tradition of providing high quality programs—both academic and spiritual—for young people in the 14 counties of the Diocese.
