Independence to get a new LaRosa’s

INDEPENDENCE, KY (FOX19) – The Independence LaRosa’s is going to move from its current location on Taylor Mill Road to a new one on Madison Pike at Shaw Road.

The new location is in one of the busiest corners in Independence.  According to a manager, the new LaRosa’s will include a full service bar, a public meeting room, and an outdoor seating area.  It will also be twice as large as the old one. 

The franchise group that owns the restaurant will also build a second restaurant on the property, but the type of restaurant hasn’t been determined.

The new LaRosa’s is expected to open this fall.

ERLANGER, KY (FOX19) - The Home Builders Association of Northern Kentucky recently released their permit numbers for the first quarter of 2012, revealing what appears to be both good and bad news.

“Remodeling continues to skyrocket into 2012,” said Brian Miller, executive vice president for the Home Builders Association of Northern Kentucky.  “We are up 47 percent in remodeling volume for the first quarter of 2012 over that same period in 2011 where we were already beginning to see the remodeling industry gain steam.  That is the hottest first quarter volume we have seen in the ten years we have been tracking this data for the last ten years.

MOSCOW, OH (FOX19) – The Federal Home Loan Bank of Cincinnati will unveil a program Friday to make $5,000,000 in grants to help people whose homes were damaged by the March 2 tornados in Ohio and Kentucky. 

Homeowners are eligible for up to $20,000 toward reconstruction or repair of a home, or acquisition of a new one.  Details will be unveiled by the FHLBank’s David Hehman Friday morning in Moscow.

The FHLBank is a wholesale lender providing housing finance and economic development products and services to 741 member institutions located in Kentucky, Ohio, and Tennessee. Chartered by the U.S. Congress, the FHLBank is one of 12 district cooperative banks wholly owned by its members and does not receive taxpayer dollars.

Home & Remodeling showcase set for February 10-12

 

COVINGTON, KY (FOX19) - The 39th annual Home & Remodeling Showcase will run from February 10th through the 12th at the Northern Kentucky Convention Center located at One West RiverCenter Boulevard in Covington.

The show is presented by Arronco Comfort Air and Remke biggs and is produced by the Home Builders Association of Northern Kentucky. Official sponsors include Softub, Legacy Kitchens, Stegman Landscape & Tree, J& D Basement Systems, and Visionary Design & Remodeling.

The show is one of the only locally produced home shows in the region. This year’s show will feature new changes as the show grows from a simple product and service exposition to a real lifestyle show. 

Show hours are Friday February 10 from 4-8 p.m., Saturday February 11 from 10 a.m.-8 p.m. and Sunday February 12 from 10 a.m.-4 p.m.

Covington looking for new home focus group members

 

COVINGTON, KY (FOX19) - The Community Housing Resource Group will be building new homes in Covington and they would like your thoughts on what you would like to see in a new home.

They are asking people to spend one hour with us on one of the following days:

  • January 19, 2012 at 5:30 pm at Covington Latin.  (Park in the lot behind the Cathedral on the corner of 12th and Scott Street. Enter through those doors of the school);
  • January 26, 2012 at 5:30 pm at City Hall Commission Chambers, 638 Madison Avenue;
  • February 2, 2012 at 12:00 noon at the Housing Authority of Covington at 2300 Madison Avenue, Lower Level (lunch will be provided).

Each participant will be eligible for a drawing. Five $25 gift cards to Kroger and five $25 gift cards to Klingenberg Hardware will be awarded at each session.

ERLANGER, KY (FOX19) - The Home Builders Association of Northern Kentucky released their August 2011 report showing that Tri-County (Boone, Kenton and Campbell) area saw a 32% decrease in single family permits from September 2010 over September 2011.  This decrease stops a trend that saw year over year increases for the last few months.
