New gourmet burger place opens in downtown Covington

New gourmet burger place opens in downtown Covington

COVINGTON, KY (FOX19) – There are many places to get a hamburger in Covington, but would you pay a little more for a gourmet “Whack Burger”?

The owner of the new restaurant by that name will soon find out.  Within the last week, Whack Burger has opened at 715 Madison Avenue, right across from The Madison.  The self-described “gourmet grill” sells burgers (made from beef, turkey, or black beans), featuring some flavor combinations that would be unimaginable at fast food places.

Some examples: The Classic, which has lettuce, tomato and onions like many burgers, but adds two kinds of cheese, plus bacon and peppercorn mayo.  Another burger combines blue cheese, green chili and a fried egg.  A third features brie cheese and grilled red apples.  Other offerings are Fried Green Tomato, Curry Chutney, BBQ Jalapeno, and the Kalifornia, with avocado, salsa, sprouts, Cheddar cheese and garlic yogurt spread.
