Police say the woman inadvertently pressed the gas instead of the brake pedal as she was pulling into a parking stall at the Fifth Third Bank at 1701 Dixie Highway. 

No one was hurt.

Competitive eater to attend "Junk Food Showdown", at public library

 

FORT MITCHELL, KY (FOX19) - At a time when most people are reducing their caloric intake, Northern Kentucky resident Joe LaRue plans to pig out for a good cause.  LaRue, also known as Jammin’ Joe LaRue, is a former competitive eater. He will be the special guest eater at the Kenton County Public Library’s Junk Food Showdown which will take place at the William E. Durr Branch Library on Monday, January 16 at 1 p.m.

Rather than gorging himself with junk food, Mr. LaRue will be eating a healthy alternative, bananas. He will attempt to eat 10 bananas in three minutes. Junk Food Showdown coordinator and W.E. Durr children’s coordinator Joel Caithamer explains. “We wanted to show that while junk food is fine occasionally, we should all incorporate healthy snacks and habits into our daily routine.”

CRESTVIEW HILLS, KY (FOX19) - Thomas More College announces its schedule of upcoming FurtherMore classes, a series of non-credit courses and events designed for adults who want to expand on a hobby or skill to further enrich their talents. Many programs are offered at no charge or for a nominal fee.  Most of the programs are held in the Center for Adult & Professional Education, 365 Thomas More Parkway, located just behind the main campus of Thomas More College in Crestview Hills.

The FurtherMore program is administered through the College’s Continuing Education and Lifelong Learning Department. Programs include a variety of topics from photography to yoga to financial strategies for successful retirement.  Participants can register online at thomasmore.edu or by phone at 859.344.3304. Crazily skilled flavorist Marie Wright goes WILD

ERLANGER, KY (FOX19) - WILD Flavors, Inc. (WILD) reports that Marie Wright has accepted the role of Chief Global Flavorist.  Wright, who mentally maps the molecules of things she tastes, will be responsible for global flavor creations for WILD, reporting directly to Dr. Erik Donhowe, Chief Operating Officer of WILD Affiliated Holdings. 

After earning a degree in chemistry and food science at King's College London, Wright began her career as a chemist analyzing the flavors of various sweetening agents before beginning her flavorist training at flavor firm Bush Boake Allen, which would later be acquired by I.F.F.  Ms. Wright joins the WILD team with over 25 years of extensive global, technical marketing and management experience.  Most recently, Wright was Vice President Senior Flavorist for International Fragrances and Flavors (I.F.F) in Dayton, New Jersey.

Covington Catholic students tapped to help design candy tongue tattoos

COVINGTON, KY (FOX19) - Local company “TUNG TOOS” sells candy tongue tattoos aimed at adolescents and teenagers. To sell this unique product they have enlisted the partnership of Covington Catholic High School graphic design students. Students created designs from sketches, then submitted the designs to the company owner and received feedback. Approximately ten students had their work selected for professional use. These students eventually produced final art in Adobe Illustrator and lead designers were compensated for their work. 

Graphic design instructor Craig Cleveland reports that CCH designs have been getting great reactions at trade shows. The products will be sold worldwide at Walmart and Rite Aid locations. The product was also recently featured on “The Today Show” with Kathy Lee Gifford.

Tung Toos has hired the PR agency “Steven Styles Group” in NYC as their official representative.

Settlement reached in Eric Deters vs. Whistleblower case

CINCINNATI (FOX19) - A case that pitted a controversial Northern Kentucky lawyer and talk-show host against a controversial conservative online publication. 

Eric Deters has dropped the case he filed against Jim Schifrin of Anderson Township, publisher of the Whistleblower in exchange for a statement published there.   Deters said the judge urged the parties to settle.  Deters sued after remarks Schifrin made about Deters and an employee who went to work for him after he successfully defended her on sex charges when she was a school teacher.
